Chinese own Americans this time

The all-star basketball team from the U.S. may have won against China last Sunday, but today- Day 5 of the Olympics- the Olympic gold goes to China, and how!

Today was female gymnastics, a sport which would mostly likely rack up the ratings- not only because of the ladies, but also for their skill. Yes, the skill in display was indeed prodigious, but China took that to the next level and was near perfection. These young ladies show their all, and apparently brought their A-game, because watching it made my jaw drop. There were no mistakes, there was some spectacular stunts, there was... perfection.

It's actually no surprise then, that the United States was relegated to Silver, which in itself is also an achievement. But this is just the beginning, and currently the United States have the most medals at 29 with China lagging at 26. One would just wonder what would happen next...

HELL WEEK: ZongHe Guide 2 of 4

SECOND LESSON (第二課)鶴立雞群

OK, first part: Identification.
1) During the 東晉era, one tall guy named 𥡴紹, was 晉惠帝's atchay, or 侍中官.
2) There was one time when the capital was in chaos, and 𥡴紹 was worried about 晉惠帝's safety. He hurried inside the seized palace, and met up with the archers (侍衛) who didn't have the heart to kill him because of his courage. (Sabihin nalang natin na na-starstruck sila)
3) (I'm not sure with my translation for this one, but anyway,) After 𥡴紹 went to rescue his gay lover, I mean, his ward 晉惠帝, war broke out (打了敗仗).
4) While protecting the emperor, 𥡴紹 was shot (中箭) and eventually die. Blood (鮮血) would spatter all over 晉惠帝's suit (龍袍) and would decline the offer to have it washed.
5) There was this person who said that 𥡴紹's heroic demeanor was like being a crane (仙鶴) trying to fit in a chicken (雞群) (Wait, that so didn't sound right).
6) Because 𥡴紹 was definitely similar to his courageous father 𥡴康, the saying有其父,必有其子 or simply put, Like father, like son.
7) 有其父,必有其子 means that if you draw a Punnett Square between a hermaphroditic father and the same hermaphroditic father, the son will be 100% the same. In short, like father, like son.
8) The synonym to 鶴立雞群 is 出纇拔萃,與衆不同。

Second part: Q&A
1) Why did the chief archer decide to let 𥡴紹 go?
Because when the chief archer (侍衛長) saw 𥡴紹's brave character (雄偉的儀表), he didn't have the heart to kill him (不忍殺害他). (Wow, touching.)
2) After 晉惠帝's loss, why was 𥡴紹 the only person who wanted to protect him? What happened later?
Because 晉惠帝 sucked during the war, his soldiers either died (官兵死的死) or ran away (逃的逃). The only willing person left was 𥡴紹, however, in the end, he too died of arrows. (只剩下𥡴紹,不顧生死的保護著他。最後𥡴紹也中箭而死。)(Ang daming drama naman nito)
3) What does the saying 鶴立雞群 mean?
It could mean three things: (1) The face and body is 出纇拔萃,與衆不同 (I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN). (2) Praise for educated people and; (3) Praise for peopl who regard work with honesty and do it with much success.

4) How did 𥡴紹 turn out?
𥡴紹 turned out to be a tall man (長得身材高大), with a brave demeanor? (儀表軒昂), and possesses the value of consideration (非常引人家注意). (I've always wondered why people bother to ask questions like these?)

Boredom make you do great things

My sister just announced that "Ser Juds" said that she won 10,000 pesos because of the essay she wrote. And she even says that she wrote the essay (for the Scout Journal) because of boredom during Chinese class last school year. Now people, as you can see, Chinese can actually make you do great stuff that can even earn you dough... lots of it.

Field Trip
Tomorrow is something that everyone looks forward to- The field trip. OK, so maybe not everyone but at least I am.

Lots of food will make this a fiesta but the fact that the bus is not exclusive for us II-1 somehow mars and limits the experience... but there'll be a way...

The first day of the Second Quarter... ungh

Yet another sleepy morning has arrived to mark the first day of the second quarter of the school year... and it makes me sooo lazy since I have to realize the fact that it's a normal school day yet again. No half-days, no short overviews of lessons past, no nothing. Because for some strange reason, I miss the long test week. It's surprising because it used to be the week I dread... must be because of the typhoon that prolonged it I guess...

There is a new typhoon coming in, though. Plus, there are also two Monday holidays. So, I'll be looking forward to those days... No Chinese! Yay!

Well, this first day was generally boring except for that eye-popping first-look at the Biology scope. Wherein our Bio teacher not only presents the whole scope, he also announces that the long test starts October 4. Hmmm..., not much a surprise but it makes the month of September sound shorter than it should be. Hehe.

It's Chinese that makes up most, if not all of the bore factor of the day. Heck, it's this shunned little subject that wrecks even the best days of a school year... Yawn...

Brad Garrett gets in paparazzi tangle
The 6 foot 5, 3-time Emmy winner who played Robert of "Everybody Loves Raymond" and current star of Fox's "'Til Death" has gotten in a tangle with the paparazzi after getting out of a restaurant. He was conversing with them at first but when someone suddenly insulted him, he punches one of 'em. And he's the wrong guy, too! His camera wasn't broken and the cameraman suffered none, if not minor, injuries. Luckily, TMZ.com, the website the punched cameraman works for, did not press charges for the camera wasn't damaged (how idiotic to prioritize the camera first LOL).
Brad Garrett played an underloved, underappreciated and oversized family member of the Barone clan in the beloved sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond.-->

First impressions regarding my new teachers... (yes, finally)

OK. So it's been 2 weeks since the first day started and it all feels like a lot of fun and a lot of bore. Yep, it's time that I finally made a post about the teachers that shape the characteristic of the school year. No, I won't be mentioning names but subjects instead.

*Arranged accdg. to the timetable thingy.
Filipino - She is very energetic and it's the first time in years that she has a different advisory class (formerly 5) and she seems almost the same as last year's but only more... uhh... kikay.

English - Newcomer and it's easy to tell. His lectures made me yawn a great deal especially in the first few days but I've learned to manage. Somehow I prefer last year's English teacher... though he too, was a bore.

Math - Same as last year's and she hasn't even changed a bit! I wouldn't qualify this subject teacher in this post 'coz it's first impressions... NOT the umpteenth.

Science - Though "he" just started last year, "he" isn't the usual first timer teacher who you'll normally sleep through. "He"'s waaaay stricter (and not to mention "scarier"?) than actually some of the other teachers in the whole faculty. "He" always cracks jokes and makes Biology a lot easier though. Especially now that I've heard that the other Biology teachers taught way harder stuff! Oh, and "he" likes balloons and I guess "he"'s also a bit hipper. Why I use quotation marks in the pronoun he is just common sense.

Livelihood Ed. - All L.E. teachers are a bore in one way or another and of course, she isn't the exception to the rule.

Technology - She tried to change the whole curriculum of Technology in the school and yes, she did it. She's the teacher we also had last year and she and our class president, Mr. Spam make quite a silly bunch and they'll leave you laughing 'till the end of the period.

Araling Panlipunan - It's like I never passed First Year. I mean, she's like... a clone of last year's teacher. They do like to crack jokes but their effort is worthless due to their corniness... that's the thing that makes them sooooo freakily similar. The similarity doesn't really end there but there's too much to list!

Chinese Language - Yes, I'm putting my Chinese teachers too and yes, she's also quite boring.

Chinese Math - Her voice somehow makes people irked and her point reduction's quite HUUGE. Mistakes on an operator will cost you 30 percent of the score. Paano pa kaya kung isang line ng solution?!!! Oh, and she's booooring as well.

Chinese Social Studies - Though she's the strictest among the three, she's the funniest and most entertaining... especially when you compare her by the two of 'em. If you're on the verge of sleeping, she'll make you do some uhh... "Tai Chi". "Take a big watermelon... Cut it in half... one for you and one for me... then eat!" It's funnier if you see her actions because it does look like tai chi. Plus, I actually already met her a long time ago.... about 2 years I think in Xiamen, on the study tour. Boy did she like to eat those veggies... I got discouraged of eating lettuce because they were uhh... let's say "too organic". (Take a hint: Ladybugs) If you want to guess, her name sounds like a country.... her Chinese name that is... and she's been known like that ever since I could remember... because she's the one promoting it every first day of school. It's funny how the second Chinese character in her name is somewhat related to the nickname she suggests.

I guess that's about it. I wouldn't want to make impressions about the PE and Arts teachers, 'coz we'll forget them and they'll forget us anyway! That way, everybody doesn't necessarily wins or loses! (Wtf am I talking about? Lol)
