All About Yahoo! Messenger

This post was supposed to be Yahoo! Hates Mac Users. Now I'm eating my words...

If you don't mind, I'd like to start with a sort of ode.

Ode to Yahoo!
Yahoo!, Yahoo!, where would I be?
Without you I may rot in a jamboree
of noise conjured by my brothers so wee.

A social life, where would thou be?
If Messenger didn't exist, I wouldn't even see
that chatting can bring people closer to me.

For free is something I like best,
and differentiates it from all the rest,
with unlimited storage and great features to boot,
people can have these without all that loot!

Not bad for a first time (in my blog)! Hahahaha!

Anyway, as you can guess right now, I'm not gonna talk about a certain chat I had or a little spam you should be aware of... but of the program itself! (Talk about tech geek...)

(WARNING: Get your eyes off the screen if you don't want me to bombard you with scientific names!) Ay mali....

REVIEW: Yahoo! Messenger Version 3.0 beta 2
Platform: Macintosh OSX Tiger (PowerPC and Intel)
Rating: 6.5/10 - STILL NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!

I used to think that Yahoo! hated Mac users. I've just come to realize that all the time they spend on the Vista edition of YM is not just wasted solely on that but on the Macintosh version as well. So why have I come to that realization just now? Because a fatal flaw on the last version made me annoyed. Very annoyed. What is that flaw, you ask? Well, after a number of messages appear on the screen, a scrollbar appears by default in which it SHOULD automatically scroll down after every message (it's hard to explain). Instead, the window goes back to the first message and you have to scroll down to see the message your friend sent you! It's VERY irritating and cumbersome but it's fixed now! And hopefully FOR GOOD!
Another thing Yahoo! put to compensate for all that waiting is the presence of tabs. For the first time, naunahan na rin ng Macintosh version ng isang program ang isang feature na sobrang anticipated (a Mac program finally gets an anticipated feature BEFORE its Windows counterpart)! Tinatagalog ko na nga sa sobrang tuwa (I'm already speaking Tagalog because of happiness)! LOLZ. (restores composure) Anyway, these tabs make scrolling through conversations (Chris, this'll help in your constant "octochats" ^_^) a lot more efficient. But if you still prefer using Expose, you can separate tabs to form separate windows. You can do the opposite, too!

Other significant upgrades include better webcam support, better stability, and chat rooms. Still no audibles and Windows Live messaging though...

Yahoo! Mail BETA...
I need it on Mac Safari! Why won't Yahoo! MAKE it compatible?!

Ironically it works on Windows Safari, but to an extent! Grrrr.... Yahoo!'s gotta work harder on this! PRONTO! 'Coz it's not only faster on the browser, it's prettier and more readable! (It's the best Anti-aliasing browser I know... Firefox comes second. Internet Explorer's the worst and Opera's getting there!)

Yahoo! Messenger Vista

I think it's bound for an October release?

The delayed new version of Yahoo!'s popular IM client is heading for Vista with a great look! Hopefully, it won't be delayed further!

New Dog. Old Tricks.
Ever wanted all those old Messenger sounds back? Yahoo! has been offering this since God-knows-when! You can download them here if you want. After download, unzip them to the C:/Program Files/Yahoo!/Messenger/Media folder. Replace all thsoe files and voila, you get all those old sounds back!
