HELL WEEK: ZongHe Guide 2 of 4

SECOND LESSON (第二課)鶴立雞群

OK, first part: Identification.
1) During the 東晉era, one tall guy named 𥡴紹, was 晉惠帝's atchay, or 侍中官.
2) There was one time when the capital was in chaos, and 𥡴紹 was worried about 晉惠帝's safety. He hurried inside the seized palace, and met up with the archers (侍衛) who didn't have the heart to kill him because of his courage. (Sabihin nalang natin na na-starstruck sila)
3) (I'm not sure with my translation for this one, but anyway,) After 𥡴紹 went to rescue his gay lover, I mean, his ward 晉惠帝, war broke out (打了敗仗).
4) While protecting the emperor, 𥡴紹 was shot (中箭) and eventually die. Blood (鮮血) would spatter all over 晉惠帝's suit (龍袍) and would decline the offer to have it washed.
5) There was this person who said that 𥡴紹's heroic demeanor was like being a crane (仙鶴) trying to fit in a chicken () (Wait, that so didn't sound right).
6) Because 𥡴紹 was definitely similar to his courageous father 𥡴康, the saying有其父,必有其子 or simply put, Like father, like son.
7) 有其父,必有其子 means that if you draw a Punnett Square between a hermaphroditic father and the same hermaphroditic father, the son will be 100% the same. In short, like father, like son.
8) The synonym to 鶴立雞群 is 出纇拔萃,與衆不同

Second part: Q&A
1) Why did the chief archer decide to let 𥡴紹 go?
Because when the chief archer (侍衛長) saw 𥡴紹's brave character (雄偉的儀表), he didn't have the heart to kill him (不忍殺害他). (Wow, touching.)
2) After 晉惠帝's loss, why was 𥡴紹 the only person who wanted to protect him? What happened later?
Because 晉惠帝 sucked during the war, his soldiers either died (官兵死的死) or ran away (逃的逃). The only willing person left was 𥡴紹, however, in the end, he too died of arrows. (只剩下𥡴紹,不顧生死的保護著他。最後𥡴紹也中箭而死。)(Ang daming drama naman nito)
3) What does the saying 鶴立雞群 mean?
It could mean three things: (1) The face and body is 出纇拔萃,與衆不同 (I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN). (2) Praise for educated people and; (3) Praise for peopl who regard work with honesty and do it with much success.

4) How did 𥡴紹 turn out?
𥡴紹 turned out to be a tall man (長得身材高大), with a brave demeanor? (儀表軒昂), and possesses the value of consideration (非常引人家注意). (I've always wondered why people bother to ask questions like these?)
